Lanvin for H&M

Fashion heads worldwide are all super excited about the Lanvin for H&M collection that is set to debut in stores on November 23rd. Girls all over are scrambling to save their pennies for the pieces from the fashion superhouse that they would otherwise not be able to afford. The lines are probably going to be insane. And even though I may not be able to fit into any of these gorgeous pieces I'm hoping at least to snag a pair of shoes which look like they have perfect heel for a plus size femme like myself. I've included some pics of a few of my favorite pieces...

J'adore la fedora!!!

Women have long been taking items of clothing traditionally worn by men and making it their own. Accessories are certainly not the exception to the habit. Summer 2010 has seen the re-emergence of the fedora hat. As a child, I remember seeing older men on their way to church on a Sunday morning sharply dressed in their tailored suits and fedora hat. They made sure to “top off” their look with the very stylish hat since, after all, the outfit’s look was not complete without it. Retailers have revamped the accessory not only for men but for women as well. Even today, the hat adds distinction and polish to an outfit whether you’re wearing a long maxi dress or shorts and an over-sized tee. I picked up one myself today and while doing my research I found these great buys at PinkIce.com, UrbanOutfitters.com and even Target.com for the hat. There are so many colors and variations around that I'm sure you will have no problem finding one that fits you're personal style…

Florals are everybody's friend...

Floral patterns are so in no matter what my cousin Jo says! I spent the ending of last summer in London and the pattern was all the rave. Just as I suspected, the girly floral patterns showed up everywhere here in NYC this Spring right alongside jeggins! I love vintage fashion and florals are very much apart of the clothing genre adding a romantic edge that is so elegant and makes me nostalgic wanting more. Oh the possibilities for us plus size gals! Growing up I was always told that the bigger one is, the further away one should stay from patterns and bright colors. Oh contraire! Plus size girls can rock floral pronts just as well as the rest of the fashion world. Just ask Dorothy Perkins who, by the way, now ships to the US...

Crenoline crush....

Everyone who knows me pretty much knows that I love tutus. I own about six of these amazing skirts including a vintage one that I purchased at Re/Dress, NYC. This classic garment is making a comeback as you may have very well seen them appear in places like Gap Kids and Forever 21. With this said, I certainly don't think that plus size gals should be exempt or afraid of trying on one of these skirts. I certainly have. The skirts are actually quite flattering to the plus size body if worn in the right way...

It's still beach season...

Even though the summer is almost over it’s definitely not too late to go swim suit shopping. After all, we've only just begun the month of August. I personally don’t believe that the summer ends until after Columbus Day seeing that my birthday is in September and I look forward to going to Miami in October for the West Indian Carnival there. This summer there were some fabulous plus-size swimsuits from the likes of Old Navy, Lane Bryant and Monif C. It’s actually the perfect time to purchase a swim suit since lots of stores actually have their swimwear on sale. If you’re like me, I go on vacation during the winter so I always need a cute and fabulous swimsuit. Shopping for plus size swimwear isn’t easy, but this year designers sure did deliver for the curvy ladies like me. I’m so happy about the direction in which plus size fashion is moving. Check out some of my favorites from this season.
